Sub: Problems of metro cities & suggestions
Sir
Kindly allow me some space in your newspaper to write about the problems that metropolitan cities face. The authorities should address three major problems of planning in particular. These are primarily to do with improper transportation, housing facilities and sewage system. The city of Gurgaon can be taken as an example.
The population of Gurgaon has been at a rapid rate. This has eaten up much of the green land. The city is too congested. Many people live in slums. So there is a need to prepare a foolproof housing plan. There is an issue of the sewage system. Pipes are busting and manholes have no lids. The sewage water flows on the roads. We need a proper and a scientific drainage system that would take care of the sewage water. In addition, we need an effective public transport system that would make the roads less congested. I urge the authorities to prepare a fresh blueprint to modernize our city. Our city needs not only money not also political will. Otherwise Gurgaon, like many other cosmopolitan cities will grow into a big slum.
Yours faithfully,
Akshat Singh
