Essay on Deforestation (550 words)

Deforestation is the removal of cutting down of trees and forests for human uses like making furnitures, toys, pencils, and for commercial use. About 30% of earth is covered by trees. About 4 billion hectares of the world and 71 million of India is covered by trees and forests and you could judge now the area covered by trees in the world. Trees are so useful for us that if they got demolished from the world then life is impossible in Earth. The main reason for this is that it gives us oxygen which mixes in our blood and make our body work. Oxygen is as important as water for humans. Apart from oxygen, trees gives us many more things like food, shelter, wood, flowers etc. But the bad thing is that trees are finishing in our world due to deforestation. 

Causes of Deforestation

There are many causes of deforestation but the primary reason for it is agriculture. Farmers remove trees from the land and use that land for cultivation. But farmers don't do this without any reason. They do this to complete the needs of the people. As the population is increasing, the demand of food is increasing, and due to A high demand of food, farmers had to cultivate crops in large land to get more food. 

Moreover, apart from this, demands of paper, matches, and furnitures is also increasing day by day. So the wood-industries need a high amount of wood to make these products. Paper is very useful for every person. From studies to valuable documents, all are made from paper. Paper is also thrown in a high amount so to remove deforestation, we should reuse and recycle the paper. Wood is also used as a fuel in making food in villages. Nowadays wooden furnitures are also used by people in their houses to decorate their houses as wooden furnitures are too beautiful and give a premium look to a house. These things create a very high demand of wood which leads to deforestation. 

Many more reasons for the deforestation is like during the construction of roads, trees are cut. Urbanisation also leads to deforestation as trees are cut to build buildings and houses in place of forests. Due to the release of chemicals from factories, the chemicals are released in rivers and the plants that get in touch with these get polluted and dies. Forest fires are also a sudden reason for deforestation. Every year many trees get burned from forest fires. 

Effects of Deforestation

Forests are said to be lungs of our planet. Trees are so kind to us. They take Carbon Dioxide and water and give us oxygen and food. 

If the deforestation will not be reduced, then our planet can face many problems such as droughts, ozone deplection, and no life. 

Trees completely hold the soil and also give nutrients. If trees will not be there then there will be soil erosion in the soil and will lead to droughts. Ozone layer is a layer that protects us from harmful rays from the sun and asteroids. This layer is burning and if it will completely burn then asteroids will keep coming and destroying earth and harmful rays will give many diseases. Life is also not possible without trees as trees gives us oxygen and humans cannot live oxygen for more than 5 minutes. 

So to get rid of these problems in the future, we just had to plant trees and trees in our surroundings.
